Q&A: DESPERATE!!! How do I stop excessive sweating?

Question by Tim M: DESPERATE!!! How do I stop excessive sweating?
For years I’ve suffered from hyperhidrosis and it’s stopped me from my potential and recently I got a job in an office with an air conditioner. With this, the sweat from my arm pit to the bottom of my shirt (no joke, it’s that bad) looks very out of place and recently been asked questions. Also, many people say to wear white or black shirts, unfortunately that doesn’t work, neither do sweaters; the sweat is so bad it just goes straight through the sweater. I went to a doctor and he said his heard of it but there is no treatment in Australia. I’m aware of Drysol, Certain-dry and all of them but I don’t think they sell them in Australia. Any help??? Please???
I’m not an alcoholic nor am I going to resort to surgery…

try Gillete Clinical Strength Anti-Deodorant.. you apply at night, it settles in the armpit while you sleep and it works very well the next day.. for me at least

apparently, botox injections in your underarm area keep them from sweating for like, 4 months or something.

other than, theres dove clinical strength. :/ hope that helps.

    hows your diet?
If you’ve ever tasted sweat its salty meaning there is sodium or salt in your sweat. I’m no doctor, i have no medical background, and this is just a theory i’ve shot out of the air out of previous knowledge but maybe your body is not able to give off as much sodium as you take in. If that is the case I would just ask you to try cutting down on sodium (such a good thing to do too if u wanna loose weight) and then drinking a lot of water which will flush out a lot of the sodium in your body.
Again this is just a WILD theory I’m thinking up but it makes sense doesnt it? and I mean what BAD could drinking water and cutting down on sodium do? it would actually help you so just give it a try.
There are also anti-persperants. Just the other day I saw a persecription stength anti-persperant which sounded really strong, mayb that will help too

If you ever do try my theory can you please contact me and tell me how that went for you? thanx

I have the same problem. It’s due to overactive sweat glands. This happens to my pits and hands. I think you may be able to get the glands removed. You can also get botox injections in your arm pit and that will stop the sweating for a few months. I wish there was a better way to deal with this problem. It sucks!!

I had the same problem long time ago and the solution is this, you have to buy a ANTI-PERSPIRANT &DEODORANT w/ 18,19,20% or more porcent of ALUMINUM as active ingredient, also try to do not use spray, on bars is better and don’t use any of them w/alcohol.
I hope this help you .

Hi i have the same sweat problem and i hate it! except its my hands and feet that sweat…
there is definately treatment availible in australia
these are the different treatments i know of…
theres botox injections for underarms and hands i guess which are really effective and last for months but costs heaps
i have tried tablets called probanthine they worked quite well for my hands and i guess they would work for underarms too, but dry eyes and a dry throat was a bit of a problem with those.
um i have also heard of dryclor , i have never tried it though i think its a perscription anti persperant that shrinks the sweat glands , you apply it at night., when area is dryest i was told i could use that on my hands, but it would work for underarms too i assume
and this ones only for hands/feet i think – electrophoresis , which is a weak electrical current to stop sweating
an operation to get a gland cut out, but there are side effects and you may sweat elsewhere! but yeh u dont wont surgery and neither did i

    i think thats about it
maybe see a skin doctor or something cos thats where i got info and referral to clinic where i get electrophoresis for my hands and feet
maybe try the dryclor it sounded good to me but my sis has the problemt too and wanted to try somethign else.
but yes there are options to treat it here in aus!
    good luck
