How can I get rid of hyperhidrosis?
Question by : How can I get rid of hyperhidrosis?
I already know that there is surgery to end the embarrassing excessive sweating, but being realistic–hey now, I’m only 18, I just got out of high school, I am not even going to consider that lol.
To be honest, I have extremely low-self esteem. I am way too critical of myself. I am also highly self-conscious, and tend to over worry about how other people see me as…
This is going to sound a bit harsh, but I blame my mom, for the way she raised me. She always taught me and told me to do things her way, the “perfect way.” I feel as if I grew up learning to only be afraid because of her. She was and still is very strict with me; I’m still staying at home though, I’m attending community college. I’ll be able to move out though in two more years.
Anyways, my main question is, what can I do to get rid of hyperhidrosis? I know there aren’t going to be overnight results, or even a few weeks worth–I don’t care how long it takes, I’m willing to try and change now. What can I do to rid of this sweat inducing self-consciousness, and this scrutinous self-esteem?
I guess that another reason for my low self-esteem would be because I am gay. I’ve told several people, but I cannot tell my family. My family holds a very traditional foreign background, and customs–from Laos.
I don’t think I’d ever tell them. Especially my parents. They absolutely hate gays. My parents are hard on me enough as it is.

Go to your doctor… there are several medications to treat this disorder… I have suffered with this for years and I know first hand how isolated it can make you feel… how embarrassing it can be dealing with this out in public… not only are you dealing with you hiding the fact that your gay on top of hyperhidrosis… it’s tough to live with…. the medication I take is Propantheline 15mg… it works… it shut off the mechanisim that tells your body to sweat… go to wikipedia.com and read up on this med… good luck and hang in there.

Generally, OTC antiperspirants are used for profuse sweating or hyperhidrosis. The most effective are those that contain aluminium chlorohydrate. But, such preparations may themselves cause irritation. Inflammation and infection can result from the combined effect of shaving and chemicals.
There are also conventional oral medications for controlling sweating, but again unpleasant side effects may occur and they should be used only for extreme cases. These work by drying bodily secretions, and tend to come with unwanted side-effects such as dry mouth, blurry vision, dizziness and cardiovascular concerns. As a last resort, there are surgical procedures to control perspiration, but they are usually reserved for cases resistant to all other form of treatment.
Natural Remedies
Many people are now turning to natural remedies as a first step towards treating excessive sweating caused by overactive sweat glands present all over the body, especially UNDERARM, FACE, HEAD, HANDS AND BACK. There are a number of natural ingredients that can help reduce sweating and treat some of the underlying causes.
Homeopathic ingredients such as Lupulus, Castoreum and Argentum Nitricum help to address excessive sweating & clamminess, especially when related to nervousness, panic, anxiety, or obsessive thoughts. They help to control fluid levels in the body, while also helping to control body odor which commonly accompanies excessive sweating.
