Home Remedy for Hyperhidrosis

My sweating was uncontrollable. It didn’t matter what the weather outside was like. The temperature in my hands, face, feet and underarms was always hot and humid. Looking back it’s hard to believe it took me 27 years to discover I had hyperhidrosis.

At the time I heard the name of this disorder, I felt confused and frustrated. I was also surprise at the prevelance of the gland disorder. I had no idea hyperhidrosis was such a common problem.

The Symptoms

It affected every aspect of everyday life for me. Something as ordinary as typing on the keyboard would leave damp driplets after just a few minutes work. Driving a car left the steering wheel sopping. And handling paperwork was a dead giveaway to anyone I was passing it onto.

I would sweat in my sleep, waking with soaked clothes and a wet pillow. I didn’t want to shake hands with anyone and was worried about any odor my sweat might possibly be giving off.

Enough was enough. I needed to do something about my hyperhidrosis. I couldn’t handle feeling uncomfortable and self conscious every second of the day.

I wasn’t ready to buy into surgery. As you may know with hyperhidrosis, surgery will either remove designated glands or create ways to bypass the flow of sweat through the hyperactive glands. Another option for me was botox treatments. I was a bit leary of trying this strategy because it’s very expensive. Plus you’re basically having poison injected into your sweat glands to paralyse their function. To me that didn’t sound very practical.

A home remedy for hyperhidrosis seemed like the most logical way to go. Granted, it’s not a one time cure-all, but with persistence and proper maintenance, you can end your sweating with home remedies in two weeks.

  • Drink more water – this should lower your bodies temperature and lessen the sweating.
  • Wear loose clothing – give your pores more breathing room
  • Drink green tea at night – this cleans toxins from your body that can trigger sweating.
  • Vinegar and Honey Solution – take two teaspoons of vinegar and two teaspoons of honey 3 times a day
  • Switch to an antibacterial soap – this will dry your skin and lessen perspiration
